Yes, you can it drive to Ikea with your wife and stuff all sorts of interior decorations and then take them home, but of us real men (cough cough) prefer to stuff some skis in the shapely rear end of a wagon and just get away from it all.
So naturally, we were excited to see the first video showing that eye-catching rear of the 2012 9-5 SportCombi, a model that will make its official debut at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, which our editorial team will be attending.
When we get to see it in real life, we might just be overcome with a need to stroke it or to stare at is dual exhaust or at the blade-like 19-inch ten-spoke alloy wheels.
This new car, which will be shown in Geneva starting from March 3rd, will arrive in dealerships in September, sporting improved versions of the 1.6 and 2.0-liter turbo petrols and the 2.0 TTiD engine which is also available on the sedan and is mated with the XWD all-wheel-drive system.
The Saab 9-5 SportCombi comes with and impressive 527 litres of luggage space, which expands to 1,600 litres when the rear seat bench is folded flat. This new partner for the 9-5 Saloon will offer a compelling alternative choice in the large wagon market segment and could actually sell in even better than its four-door peer.
autoevolution will be attending the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
