Saab Confirms Concept for Geneva Auto Show

Just as the well-informed (and with very trained eyes) guys from Saab United were able to make of an otherwise not at all revealing invitation sent by Saab last week, a new Swedish concept will be making its entrance at the Geneva Auto Show which opens its doors next week. Saab confirmed today that Geneva will be the place for it to introduce a model which will preview the design lines and technologies to be used in the next-generation vehicles coming from Trollhattan. The model to be revealed next week, by all accounts a hatchback on which Saab will build the next 9-3, has been drawn by the hands of Jason Castriota. The technologies used in the model, and revealed today, show that the model will be some sort of hybrid, with the rear axle of the four-wheel drive system powered by an electric motor. Another touch of new, and hopefully a breakthrough one for Saab, is the use of a communications platform based on the Android operating system. Unfortunately for all of us, the Swedish auto maker released no photo showing the model for now. This will only add to the excitement, we're sure, as the Saab concept will be on the list of cars to look for at the Geneva Auto Show. autoevolution will be attending the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
