According to a press release posted on the team's website, the hospitality scheme within the Grove based organization will fall in the hands of one of Britain's most acclaimed chefs, Michael Caines. Williams and Caines announced their partnership earlier today, although the duration of the deal was not disclosed to the media.
For those of you who aren't that familiar with the hospitality industry, Caines was awarded the AA Chef's Chef of the Year in 2007, one year after having received the MBE for services to the hospitality industry (2006). As a day-to-day “job”, the new Williams F1 Team partner is the Executive Chef at Gidleigh Park, the number one restaurant in the UK according to The Sunday Times/Hardens Guide Top 100 British Restaurants.
“I am thrilled to be involved with the AT&T Williams team as an official partner and to help them develop their already high standards of hospitality,” said Caines, who received 2 Michelin stars some 12 years ago and has retained them ever since.
“(...) It is a prestigious relationship and something we are very excited about and proud of. I am a petrolhead at heart and I’m passionate about Formula One. I have followed Williams over many years so for me this involvement is just brilliant,” added the British chef.
“We are delighted to welcome Michael Caines as an Official Partner of the team. He has an outstanding reputation as one of Britain’s most admired chefs and our relationship aims to bring his Michelin-stared food and hospitality to the team’s motorhome facility over race weekends. We are very much looking forward to working with him over the coming months,” added team owner Frank Williams.
