Saab and former owner, Dutch supercar manufacturer Spyker seem to have their sights set on GM, in a bad way, as both companies have filed a colossal lawsuit against the US giant. They are asking for no less than €2.4 ($3- / £1.9-) billion, which they claim is the projected value of Saab, in 2016.
Saab and Spyker are accusing GM for unlawful actions undertaken in order not to have Saab as a competitor on the Chinese market. They also claim that this is the reason for their bankruptcy, as GM actively interfered between Saab and its prospective Chinese investors.

The Swedish automaker was planning on launching the all-new Phoenix platform-based 9-3 in 2013. This would have started to bring money back into the company - money they needed to pay back a loan from Chinese automaker Youngman, with which Saab reportedly signed an agreement for a €200- ($249- / £160-) million loan, on December 16th - a full three days before the famed Swedish carmaker was declared bankrupt, on December 16th 2011.

What they are trying to say, put simply, is that GM actively tried to “kill” Saab, and, from the looks of it, nothing can escape the grasp of large corporations, and sadly, Saab never stood a chance against GM. We hope justice is served and Saab can finally go back to making car, regardless of whether they are EVs or not.
