The old Saab 9-5 was produced between 1997 and 2010, making way for a very limited production run of the all-new 9-5. In its 13 year history, it received numerous updates to try to keep it competitive, but by 2010, it looked very old and outdated. However, some people were into that and they bought and loved their 9-5s to death.
We recently spotted an excellent 2004 example parked outside of IKEA. We thought it was the perfect combination for a few photos - sadly, we didn’t have our ‘big’ camera with us, so we had to make do with something far less sophisticated. It was probably a 2.0-liter turbocharged car, from what we could gather (no exterior badging to even give us a hint).

Saab has sadly now gone under and it may (or may not) be revived as an EV maker with capital being poured into it from Asia. We hope they succeed, but even if they do, they will never be able to match the any of the cars that propelled them to the top of the car culture tree ever since the introduction of 99 Turbo, back in 1978.
