Saab 9-4X Making European Debut at 2011 Brussels Motor Show

Saab today announced that its first crossover, the 9-4X, is scheduled to make its European debut at this month’s Brussels Motor Show.

The vehicle will join the 9-5 sedan, the first new-age Saab vehicle, the refreshed 9-3 range, which comes with diesel engines that promise to offer “class leading efficiency in terms of low CO2 per unit of horsepower”, as well as the Swedish automotive producer’s first EV, the 9-3 ePower.

"We are currently embarked on the biggest new product offensive in Saab's history," said Saab Automobile CEO Jan Ake Jonsson. "The launch of the 9-4X follows the introduction of the new 9-5 sedan just six months ago and the arrival of the much-awaited 9-5 SportCombi later in the year. The Brussels Show is the start of an extremely busy year for us."

The 9-4x will hit European market starting from August and the company has high hopes for it, as the vehicle is an important part of its rebirth process.

Due to go on sale in Europe from August, the 9-4X continues the biggest new product offensive in Saab's history and will give the newly independent company access for the first time to the growing, mid-size crossover segment. It offers progressive design, comfort and versatility alongside car-like driving qualities and will provide a fresh, alternative choice for buyers in the segment,” stated the press release.

We’ll remind you that the Saab 9-3 ePower is the prototype for a test fleet of 70 cars that are taking part in field trials held in Sweden. The wagon promises to offer driving range of 200 km (124 miles).
