The stage is not quite yet set for the 2010 season, as the teams are still scrambling to find the best way to take aim at the 2010 title. The latest development comes from both Rusty Wallace Racing (RWR) and Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR), who announced yesterday the forming of a new technical alliance.
The partnership is needed because of the decision RWR made earlier this month to field Toyota vehicles for the next season. JGR will help RWR with the development of their Camrys.
"We're excited about working with J.D. [Gibbs] and his guys; they've built a very solid Nationwide Series program over the past several seasons," Rusty Wallace told NASCAR. "Between all of the support that we're receiving from Toyota and this new partnership, I feel that 2010 will be a strong year for our team."
"We're looking forward to working with Rusty and his team at RWR," JGR president J.D. Gibbs added. "We're excited to have them join the Toyota camp next year in the Nationwide Series and we look forward to providing assistance to their program as well."
As said, RWR will switch to Toyotas after racing for the last two seasons with two Chevrolet Impalas. As Wallace said when he announced the cars for the next season, the move was necessary because RWR found it difficult to beat teams which field Toyota vehicles. The fact that its two-year support given by Chevrolet is over made the decision even easier.
RWR's Toyota will be run with engines provided by Triad Racing Development.
