Rumour: Lamborghini Preparing Gallardo LP570-4 SV

There might be a new version of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 coming at next year’s Geneva Auto Show, named the Gallardo LP570-4 SV, if we are to believe the Teamspeed Forums brand enthusiasts.

The car is said to be some sort of Superlegerra SV incarnation of the current already high performance LP 560-4 version of the Gallardo. That means that the car would have to be considerably lighter (the Superlegerra version of the normal Gallardo managed to lose 100 kg, so a similar figure is expected). It would also have to be more powerful, but only 10 HP are expected to be added to the current 560. We are also told to expect a reworked front suspension, together with a new carbon ceramic brake package and an aerodynamics package, including a new front spoiler and a large carbon fiber rear wing.

And there may be an even meaner version in the works, called the LP590-2: a hardcore RWD version with 590 HP, resembling the current Valentino Balboni edition, which ditches the standard car’s 4 wheel drive system, using rear traction only. It is expected to literally hit the market in early 2011.

All these should be true, as the Gallardo’s successor isn’t expected until 2012, and Lamborghini would have to be crazy (not in their usual good way) to expect a victory in the fight with the new Ferrari 458 Italia without throwing any new metal on the battlefield.

Hopefully, we will all see the LP 570-4 in January, when it is supposed to be presented to VIP customers and dealers. Check your nearest social networking website! If no one has the good will to take a forbidden photo and upload it then we will have to wait until Geneva Auto Show in March 2010 to behold the beast. Deliveries are said to start in May.

For the love of proper drifting (for which the big brother Murcielago LP 670 SV was always too heavy), for the sake of a Super Veloce-Superlegerra(-Balboni) cocktail, which would bewilder with its simple presence, Lamborghini, please make this come true!
