Rumor Mill: BMW to Release Twenty Models by 2015

Approaching the end of the decade, every automaker is exposing, more-or-less intentionally, its direction for the 5-10 years to come. While some have hybrids up their sleeve, a few are just eager to get their hands on more potent batteries for their EVs and some plan a complete makeover of their range.

BMW wants to further differentiate its regular models from their sporty versions in the 1-Series and 3-Series model ranges, and once more seems to be considering the 2-Series in a coupe and cabrio body type. In total, BMW plans to launch twenty new models by 2015.

The current strategy is to whether separate the Coupe (F22) and Cabrio (F23) models of the 1er from the Sporthatch and its forthcoming counterparts that will join the 1er. It is being looked at to separate the sporty models from the regular models in which – 2er will compliment the Coupe , Cabrio and the Z2 Roadster and Coupe”, says Scott27, a company insider, for BMWBLOG.

The 1 Series will continue to include the Sporthatch, Compact Sport Tourer and Gran Turismo versions. A rumor that raised some eyebrows back in 2009 now returns to media attention, suggesting that the BMW Z2 Roadster and Coupe are coming back in the spotlight. BMW needs to offer a Compact sporting concept in the same class as the MINI Coupe and Roadster, with sporting dynamics at least equal to other cars in this price range.

Weight is the key priority hence why the car will go no further than a four cylinder”, says the insider.

A BMW official recently confirmed over 15 new products coming out in the next five years, but further details have not been provided, so we advise you to take this rumors cautiously into consideration as we all wait for more words from BMW.
