Rossi Looking for 8th Consecutive Win at Mugello

Only a few days away till the upcoming MotoGP round, the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello, reigning champion Valentino Rossi reckons it won't be easy maintaining his unbeatable record in his native country. The Yamaha rider won the last 7 races at Mugello and will return to the Italian track in desperate need of the entire 25 points awarded for the winning rider.

Having suffered a massive defeat to teammate Jorge Lorenzo at Le Mans – where he finished the race outside the Top 15 and therefore failed to score a single point – Rossi is now trailing the Spaniard by a single point in the overall classification, while level on points with Ducati's Casy Stoner.

Rossi admitted that the pressure on him winning an 8th consecutive grand prix at Mugello will be two times greater then before for two reasons: he now feels the heat from title contenders Lorenzo and Stoner in the point standings, while also knowing that his days of winning at Mugello must come to an end some day. His only hope is that it won't happen on this particular Sunday.

Racing at Mugello is something incredible for me, but every year it gets more difficult to keep my record going and seven wins in a row is already a lot. I do feel pressure going there, but at the same time it is always amazing and the fans give me an extra motivation that helps me to perform in a different way there,” said Rossi in a preview for the Italian Grand Prix.

I hope it's the same again this year, because after Le Mans I really need a good result! I always look forward to this race; it's very busy for me but I have so many amazing memories. Let's hope to create some more this weekend,” added the Italian.
