Some motorcyclists, me included, don’t want to look like Power Rangers while riding and avoid flashy-colored gear like it’s the fashion’s devil. Black is the next best choice and on this idea, Roland Sands is offering a new Black Ops ‘murdered out’ collection.
From a safety point of view, wearing all-black equipment could make you less visible to the other road users, but then we saw riders wearing high-viz jackets getting rear-ended so wearing shouty colors doesn’t seem to really matter in a world where drivers don’t care what’s up ahead because they’re busy texting or looking for pokemonsters.
As much as it concerns me, I’ll stop wearing black when they’ll make a blacker black, so the new Roland Sands Black Ops collection definitely gets on my wishlist. The offer is made up of two leather jackets, a hoodie, and a matching helmet.
First on the list is the Ronin Black Ops, a stealthy version of the jacket that started it all. It features a suede leather exterior and interior trims, cafe-styled shorty snap collar, an aggressive riding fit with rotated/pre-curved sleeves, dropped back length, soft lined electronics security pocket, YKK zippers as well as armor-ready shoulder, elbow, and back protector pockets. It’s all black and comes in with a $700 price tag.
For an extra 50 bucks, you get the Clash Black Ops, a $750 murdered out rocker jacket that boasts quilted accents, a diagonal front zipper and reinforced riveted elbows along with the features mentioned above.
The premium fleece Black Ops Hoodie is offered at $120, coming with a protective pocket bag, zip pockets, quilted/reinforced elbow patch, thumb holes for added protection and warmth as well as embroidered armhole vents.
Although not new, the jackets can be paired with the cafe-style Bullit Carbon Bagger helmet, which can be had for $600. It features a low-profile carbon-composite shell, multi-density EPS liner, front chin vents with metal mesh intake and exhaust vents, removable/washable anti-bacterial micro suede interior and contoured cheek pads.
