Robert Llewellyn Looks at Inductive Wireless EV Charging

Robert Llewellyn says that it is one of the most important technological breakthroughs and it will only improve the usability of EVs and make them more appealing to more people who will be able to use them more of the time.
An inductive charging plate makes the transfer of electrical power from the grid to the EV’s battery pack possible wirelessly, with no physical contact whatsoever. This means that EVs would become even more practical for people who live in areas where on-street parking is the only option.

An even more ambitious application would be the implementation of in-road charging on-the-go, with cars’ battery packs getting smaller, as they would always draw power from the road, with the battery pack only being used to ‘jump’ between grids.

It seems that the wireless craze which has made most of the things which have been invented since the start of the industrial revolution wireless is really beginning to penetrate the EV market as well, and with great results.
