Richard Branson to Be Stewardess in AirAsia Flight on May 1st

Once the bet between Virgin Racing's Sir Richard Branson and Team Lotus' Tony Fernandes has been won by the latter, it's time for the former to pay up. And, according to the latest tweet from Fernandes, Branson will serve as stewardess at one of his company's flights on May 1st.

It's official. Richard Branson will serve as sterwerdess on May 1st. Special AirAsia x flight. Seats on sale at airasiago. All money to charity. Dj and eddie jordan performing,” wrote Fernandes on his Twitter account earlier today.

Both businessmen bought into their own F1 team at the beginning of last season, with Branson becoming majority owner or Virgin Racing and Fernandes becoming team principal for Lotus Racing, later turned into Team Lotus.

As both teams were newly entrants in the series, the two businessmen decided to make things a little more interesting and placed a bet on who will finished ahead in the 2010 constructors' classification. Since both own an airline company – Virgin (Branson) and AirAsia (Fernandes) – the winner would have the loser play stewardess in one of his company's flights at a given date.

At the end of the 2010 campaign, Lotus Racing emerged in 10th place in the teams' classification, whereas Virgin – despite showing a competitive pace in qualy, as compared to Lotus – ended their first F1 campaign in 12th place.

It's unlikely that the two investors will build up on their betting history this year, especially since Branson is no longer majority owner of the British team, selling most of it to Russian sportscar maker Marussia.
