Revolve Teams with Nira for New Engine Development

Formerly known as Roush Technologies, American engine manufacturer Revolve has set up a collaborative technical partnership with Nira Control, a Swedish engine management specialist, for the development of new Ford engines.

The collaboration between the two companies, which will be made public at the Engine Expo in Stuttgart next week, aims, together with Ford, at developing a range of fully certified Ford diesel and gasoline engines. The engines developed by the three will not only be used in the automotive sector, but also in the marine and industrial original equipment manufacturer ones.

The parties have already developed one engine, namely an in-line 5-cylinder unit, intended for the marine sector, which will be shown for the first time at the aforementioned event. Diesel version of the engine will be introduced first, with gasoline versions expected to surface later on.

As the collaboration progresses, the three companies will develop engines ranging from 1.4 to 9 liters capacity, designed for compliance at Euro 5 for automotive applications – and the equivalent Tier 3 emissions level for industrial use. The range will cover engines with 4, 5 and 6 cylinders, as well as V6 and V8 ones.

Together with the development of the engines, Nira will provide new generation engine management systems, designed to control all types of industrial and marine powerplants. As was to be expected, the management systems will be created to meet current and future emissions. For marine applications, the systems will be equipped with interfaces for control of CAN network components such as helm controls and instrumentation.

Engine Expo will be opened in Stuttgart between June 16 and 18 and is the place to be for those involved or interested in supply of engines and engine components, manufacturing systems, engine design, development and manufacturer.
