REV It UP Auto Technician Contest Finale Coming

MPi Las Vegas, a Nevada-based auto dealers service departments tool provider, today announced that it will be organizing the the final of a national competition for service technicians at MPi auto dealerships.

Dubbed “REV It Up”, the project is a series of four races aimed at test technicians’ skills and speed using MPi’s software, EGDE, for their car inspection process. The event proved to be a success, as 6,000 technicians from 320 auto dealers across the US entered. The final race is scheduled to take place on Sturday, March 5, at 11:00 am at the recently-inaugurated Lexus of Henderson.

Modern vehicles are very sophisticated, computer-driven machines requiring technicians who can work with cutting-edge high-tech tools. Today, the auto mechanic is truly a technician, and a diagnostic computer is equally important as a wrench.  These skills can go unrecognized, which is part of the reason this contest was developed, to recognize the skills and hard work of these valuable technicians, we all need our cars well cared for,” stated the press release.

One of the positive outcomes of this effort was to demonstrate that consistency with vehicle inspections is greatly important to both the auto dealership and the consumer.

The final event will include a live scenario that will put five technicians to the test, which will have to diagnosis a purposely debilitated vehicle using the EDGE system. The winner will receive a Richard Petty Driving Experience, $5,000 in cash and an OTC Pegisys scan tool, which is valued at $5,500.
