Retrofit Hybrid Solution Offered in the U.S.

Recaptured Energy Technologies, an U.S. company, has created an automotive fuel-saving system, which has been specifically designed to be retrofitted to vehicles.

The system captures braking energy and converts it to an additional source of energy to power the vehicle - it is composed of a hydraulic and a propulsion part. The development offers an economic benefit, as it reduces the fuel consumption of the vehicle it is installed on. In addition to that, it helps protect the environment by reducing the car’s CO2 emissions.

The application would be especially effective when installed on fleet vehicles, where individual costs are multiplied, and reducing fuel costs can result in hefty savings. It could also eliminate the need to replace current vehicles from a fleet with new hybrid ones, thus further reducing costs. In addition to that, it would allow vehicle fleet to reduce their average emission level.

"There is no simple solution when it comes to reducing emissions and improving fuel economy of transit and fleet vehicles. This is especially true today when there are limited resources available.Retrofitting is a sound 'green' strategy, offering a true net reduction by making existing vehicles more efficient and extending useful life.  It is also a sound financial strategy because retrofitting reduces fuel consumption and postpones the purchase of new vehicles," said Sam Jones, president of Recaptured Energy Technologies

"While retrofitting existing vehicles makes both economic and environmental sense, it offers another sensible solution by creating jobs immediately, as the evaluation and conversion process could begin right away.Purchasing new hybrid vehicles is a costly endeavor," Jones added.
