Almost a year ago, the Italian Sea Group announced that it was relaunching the Picchiotti brand with a new Gentleman's Yacht line. Now, the company has revealed the first renders of the vessels that will bring the iconic brand back into the spotlight.
Picchiotti has been building boats since 1575, and its roots can be traced to the Tuscan region of Italy. The upcoming Gentleman line of serial production watercraft will include classically-styled modern yachts inspired by the silhouette of classic American cruisers from the 1960s.

Designed to celebrate the "golden age of yachting," according to the Italian Sea Group, the new line will include 24, 33, 44, and 55-meter (79, 108, 144, and 180-foot) versions of the Gentleman yacht, all of which will be "smoother, more modern and elegant." Even from the initial renders, it was obvious that the designers of these new cruisers took design cues from post-war yachting, but the new renderings shared by Picchiotti reveal they will boast elegant, contemporary interiors.

Italian studio Luca Dini Design & Architecture is responsible for the design of the new vessels, with Kurt Lehmann of Yacht Moments providing consultancy. Each yacht in the series boast timeless classic lines that reminisce of the American yachts of the '60s, but everything else, from the powertrains to the creature comforts, is modern.

The hull and the superstructure of the new Picchiotti models will be produced entirely in aluminum, with very sleek lines and chic finishes. The exterior boasts a nautical colorway of navy and white, with a red beauty line that perfectly fits the hull. The vessels' elegance is further enhanced by the extensive use of glossy mahogany on the flanks and polished plating on the bow and stern. There is something captivating about being on board a classic yacht with such an elegant profile, and we can only assume the use of mahogany details only enhances the experience.

TISG is among the shipbuilders that focus more on eco-friendliness in their designs, so the engineering team has worked on the hull's lines to optimize its efficiency and increase autonomy, consumption, as well as guests' sailing comfort. The option to include hybrid propulsion or fully electric engines is also proof of the yard's increased eco focus.

The first hull in the Gentleman series is set to be delivered in 2024, with the welding phase already being completed. It's a 24-meter model, and according to the yard, an additional 15 units are in construction.

The vessels of the post-war era used to have interiors with dark wood paneling and solid furniture, but don't expect all that inside the new Gentleman yachts. The living quarters of the new line are bright and airy, with spacious rooms featuring expansive windows and high-end materials and finishes.

Although the layout of the yachts in the series will vary depending on the size, there is a special feature shared by all models - wide side corridors on the main deck that allow guests on board to move effortlessly move from bow to stern.

A large sliding glass door will create a seamless transition between the spacious beach club and the sun deck at the stern. A foredeck lounge and a small pool will be housed on the foredeck, though the pool only seems to be featured on the 24-meter model, which is also the only version coming in two different configurations - the traditional enclosed stern and the option to have an open aft.

In terms of accommodation, the 24m model can be optioned with three or four cabins, the 33 and 44 will boast five, while the larger 55m version will have six.

With about 400 years of shipbuilding history, Picchiotti is one of the oldest shipyards in the world, and the new Gentleman yacht line represents its rebirth and is expected to bring back the elegance and excellence of the Italian yachting tradition.
