Mercedes Benz unveiled the new ML-Class at the Frankfurt Auto Show last month, but according to Carscoop, it’s also gearing up to launch the AMG version of the SUV sooner than we originally thought. No other info is specified, but according to the aforementioned source, the ML 63 AMG will debut next month at the LA Auto Show.
The car that we recently tested in test mule form near the Nurburgring wears the tell-tale elements of an AMG SUV: AMG wheels, big cross-drilled brake discs and hood vents.
There's no official information to go on when it comes to the engine to be fitted under the hood. Speculation is the ML AMG will use a twin-turbo V8 unit, capable of developing 525 horsepower.
With only a couple of months between the LA Show and NAIAS in January, we really don’t know if Mercedes will indeed go for the former option, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
