Renew Your Vehicle Tag Online

Drivers living in Oklahoma just got a quicker an easier way to renew their vehicle registration. The state’s official Convenient Auto Renewal System (CARS) offers the possibility to do that online, by visiting cars.ok.gov.

The website also offers the possibility to sign up in order to receive an email when it is time to renew their tag with the Tax Commission’s, via the Remind Me function. Users simply enter the last four digits of their vehicle identification number (VIN), tag number, and if renewing for a farm truck, the Agriculture Exemption Permit (SMX) number.

“CARS is intended to make renewing car tags a convenient, simple and easy process for all individuals,” said Paula Ross, Oklahoma Tax Commission spokesperson. “CARS is open around the clock every day, including weekends, nights and holidays.”

Oklahomans can renew online if they:
  • Wish to renew a tag for a noncommercial (automobiles; non-commercial/non-farm trucks; motorcycles; travel trailers; motor homes) or commercial (15,000 pounds or less laden weight) vehicle, that is not more than ten (10) months delinquent.
  • Wish to renew a tag for a farm truck weighing (truck + load carried or pulled) 55,000 pounds or less, that is not more than ten (10) months delinquent.
  • Have a valid credit/debit card or a checking account to pay for the renewal.
  • Have insurance information ready, or are declaring a non-use vehicle.
  • Have a driver's license number (if individual) or FEI number (if other than an individual).
  • Have a printer connected to a computer in order to print the receipt and/or provide a valid email address to have the receipt sent to that account.
