Mercedes-AMG models are never cheap – they're neither affordable to buy nor exude cheapness in terms of design. Although, one could also say they're exaggerating sometimes.
For example, just recently, we learned that the 25-unit, US-exclusive 2024 Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 S Edition 1 has a ginormous $82k (and some change) price tag. That's a bit too much, right? Besides, I have a feeling that many people will rather spend their cash on a more elegant four-door saloon model – the newly announced Mercedes-AMG E 53, which is equipped with a more stylish inline-six engine plus an electrified setup and delivers no less than 604 ponies with the Race Start function activated.

If you still want the four-door to look like a coupe, though, there's always the choice of the Mercedes-AMG 4-Door Coupe model, right? Well, if you want our two cents on the matter, I would hold still for a little while longer. After all, Mercedes-AMG took over production of the seventh-generation SL-Class roadster, and the R232 model became exclusive to the sub-brand and was a direct replacement for the GT Roadster.

That was back in late 2021. Soon after, during the summer of 2023, the second-generation Mercedes-AMG GT two-door coupe was presented at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in America based on the same MSA platform as the SL. It is exclusively offered as a two-door coupe for now with a 2+2 setup and two variants – GT 55 with 469 hp and mild hybrid inline-four or GT 63 with 577 hp and the traditional 4.0-liter M177 twin-turbo V8 engine.

Soon enough, starting in late April, Mercedes-AMG is also bringing out the new Mercedes‑AMG GT 63 S E Performance, which will be initially revealed at a special AMG Brand Night Event in Shanghai during the Formula 1 weekend on April 20, followed by the public debut at Auto China 2024 - also known as the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, held between April 25 and May 4.

But wait, as there is more Mercedes-AMG GT news, at least from across the rumor mill and the imaginative realm of digital car content creators. More precisely, this virtual artist, better known as Theottle on social media, has recently resorted to CGI slicing and dicing the Porsche Taycan EV into a new generation of the AMG four-door coupe.

In his latest behind-the-scenes making-of video, the pixel master used the skins of a Porsche Taycan GTS and Turbo S as the perfect templates for a more stylish and elegant – but also nimbler – new iteration of the Mercedes-AMG 4-Door Coupe and if you want our two cents on the matter it looks a lot sleeker than the current generation thanks to the addition of numerous second-gen C192 Mercedes-AMG GT details. What do you think?
