The Japanese automaker Toyota has a quartet of specialized 4x4 mid-size offerings ready for the US automotive market this year – 2024 Lexus GX 550, 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser, and N400 Tacoma, plus the all-new 2025 4Runner off-road SUV.
Naturally, it's all thanks to the massive investment into the various iterations of the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) – one of the fifth variations is the TNGA-F platform which underpins body-on-frame vehicles in the mid- and full-size SUV and mid- and full-size pickup truck categories: J300 Toyota Land Cruiser, XK70 Toyota Tundra, J310 Lexus LX, and XK80 Toyota Sequoia are all part of the full-size class.

Meanwhile, there are just as many mid-sizers: N400 Tacoma, J250 Lexus GX, and Land Cruiser, plus the N410 Toyota 4Runner, which is only reaching the North American markets later this year during the fall season. Naturally, with the off-road SUV being the latest introduction, it has quickly become the darling of the imaginative realm of digital car content creators – and some pixel masters have even developed a passion for it.

For example, Nikita Chuicko, the virtual artist better known as kelsonik on social media, thinks now is the right CGI time to play with Toyota's 4Runner – again. After initially giving it a set of new, larger aftermarket wheels in TRD Pro form and comparing the old and new versions in Trailhunter guise, now it's time for a bit of CGI fooling around with the high-spec versions, namely Limited or Platinum.

Thus, here's an unofficial design project that goes against every credo of the diehard 4Runner off-road fan base and turns the sixth generation SUV into a 'mall crawler' with a lowered suspension setup and a new, larger set of concave aftermarket wheels plus some blacked-out details like the front badge, grille, or front and rear bumper elements. One thing that he should have discarded but unfortunately kept in place is the unsightly wind deflector below the bumper, though.

So, do you like the all-new 2025 Toyota 4Runner in its traditional all-terrain capacity, or do you think this virtual artist is onto something cool for the aftermarket realm? As for the aforementioned TRD Pro, the flagship off-road grade, Marouane Bembli, a virtual artist better known as TheSketchMonkey on YouTube, is keen on unofficially putting his 'tuning fairy' skills to the test once again with a pretty extreme digital transformation showcased in the behind-the-scenes making-of video embedded below.

As always, the 2025 Toyota 4Runner is coming to America from the company's Tahara plant in Japan and will hit the market with two engine options. More precisely, the 2.4-liter T24A-FTS turbo inline-four is offered in two guises, with or without electric assistance, and packing 278 hp or 326 hp with 317 lb-ft (430 Nm) or 465 lb-ft (630 Nm) of torque.
