Alfa Romeo is getting ready to shine even more under Stellantis' roof, as the Italian car manufacturer is currently preparing several new vehicles. One of them will be the Milano, a baby crossover with electric power and familiar underpinnings.
We saw it officially last week when the company released several images showing a heavily camouflaged prototype. Due to the thick fake skin, it was pretty hard to make out some of the details, but it is clear that it will feature a familiar grille that is similar to other Alfa Romeo-branded models.

It has muscular shoulders with the waistline kicking up on the rear doors and a roofline that is slightly arched at the rear. For a sportier appearance, the brand's design team placed the rear door handles in front of the C-pillars. Several design traits were likely inspired by some of the automaker's past models and adapted to the modern era.

Despite utilizing the e-CMP platform, which is the foundation stone of other similarly-sized products like the Jeep Avenger and Peugeot e-2008, Alfa Romeo says it will have "extremely precise" steering, combined with superior handling for a vehicle in this class and lots of grip. Thus, you can think of it as a sportier alternative to the Jeep Avenger, featuring a different body and a new dashboard, a move that will draw a clear line between this premium crossover and its more mainstream siblings.

It is only logical that the Alfa Romeo Milano will get the same electric motor and 54 kWh battery pack as the e-2008. The Peugeot has 154 hp (156 ps/115 kW) on tap and a 252-mile (406 km) range, yet we expect the Milano to offer a bit more power. Who knows, maybe it will add a second electric motor for more thrust and quicker acceleration in the range-topping flavors, though this move will leave its mark on the electric autonomy. Some outlets speak of at least one internal combustion engine, perhaps with partial electrification, so it will be one versatile machine.

We will find out more about it in a little over two months, as the official unveiling will take place on April 10. In the meantime, we should spot more prototypes and maybe see a few leaks, too. Moreover, rendering artists will keep having their way with it, just like the peeps at Kolesa did with the unofficial digital illustrations shared in the gallery above. These CGIs appear to have been based on the teasers, so they stay true to the original car's design up to a point. We are not entirely sure that the front and rear ends will look exactly like this, but we wouldn't be mad if they did. Would you?
