Renault Nissan EVs to Sell in Georgia

Probably the first country in the Caucasus region to be able to accommodate electric vehicles on its streets will be Georgia, as today the country's government announced the signing of an agreement with the most active EV-promotion group on the planet, the Renault Nissan Zero Emissions Alliance.

As all over the world, where the alliance moved and struck similar deals, Georgia will enter what might be considered a coaching period, a time when Renault, Nissan and government officials will work together to identify the best markets for the EVs of the two manufacturers, popularize the concept in the country and prepare the required infrastructure for the future launch of the models.

For now, however, no timetable has been established for the launch of the Nissan and Renault electric vehicles. The alliance only said that the final agreement has been reached with a view to “encouraging the promotion of electric vehicles in order to reduce CO2 emissions and the effects of climate warming.”

More precisely, the alliance and the Georgian government agreed on the following topics:

  • the promotion of the electric vehicle and the support of its commercialization
  • the evaluation of the equipment in electric vehicles of the fleets of public institutions of the country
  • the market study for charging network deployment
  • the identification of public and private fleets customers, liable to join the project from their environmental commitment.

Renault Nissan Zero Emission alliance has been very busy these past two years, trying, like no other auto maker who intends to launch EVs, to establish the best environment for their cars before actually sending them onto the market.
