"The next generation of Twingo, the brand’s emblematic city car will be making its world debut appearance. The Renault stand will also be presenting a new version of Renault Clio RS and a new engine in the Energy range," that's what Renault wrote on its invitation to the Geneva Motor Show this year.
We know this news will make fans of the popular French brand very happy, and we are honor-bound to bring them more details, just so they can keep their excitement going for the next two months until Geneva arrives.

Starting with the "new version of the Clio RS" we think this can only be the new Gordini model. It was rumored last year, with leaked info coming from the Dieppe factory suggesting it packs an amazing 230 PS and 285 Nm. This would easily make it the fastest and most powerful car in its class. 0 to 100 km/h is claimed to be dealt with in 6 seconds and the top speed is 250 km/h. Changes will also be made to the exhaust system, the EDC gearbox and the Recaro seats.

While the Clio RS Gordini is a simple case of tuning an existing car, the new Twingo is probably the most revolutionary car Renault has made in a decade or more. We've tracked it all through last year, as engineers were testing it from sunny Spain to ice-cold Sweden. It's based on a brand new platform, has the engine in the back and makes a number of very strange cost-cutting concession. Strong emphasis will be placed on the "cool" factory, so expect bright colors, wheels and interior trim. Expect styling to be very similar to the Twin-Run and Twin-Z concepts.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
