This season of the Nurburgring tourist drives is about to end and it seems the imaginary "top Ring crash of the season finale" competition has kicked off.
Our nomination for today involves an accident that took place over the weekend and no, this wasn't a soft one. The crash involved a rental Renault Clio RS that met the protection element on the side of the track twice in a matter of seconds, with the driver's lack of experience being obvious.

The accident was captured using a dash cam inside a vehicle following the Clio, which seems to have gone playing together with another RS from the same rental company.

And while we usually try to read between a driver's mistakes and bring you the resulting performance lesson, this time the thing to be learned from here is a simple one - don't just to lapping the Nordschleife at maximum pace until you are familiar with both the car and, just as importantly, the track.

The Clio RS EDC (double clutch gearbox) seen here is an incredibly docile hot hatch, but the German track didn't get its Green Hell nickname by cuddling too many drivers.

Don't get us wrong, this story isn't intended to keep you away from the Nurburgring, being aimed at helping you go through the Green Hell adrenaline rush in one piece.

In fact, if were determined to lap the Ring this year but didn't have the chance to do it, there's still hope. That's because the 2016 Touriestenfahrten (Tourist Days) schedule doesn't end until the first weekend of December.

However, you should be prepared for a snow-caused delay at any time. Speaking of which, this is how a less snowy blitz Nurburgring lap looks like.

Returning to the Clio RS action we have here, the first video below is focused on the accident, while the second clip kicks off by showing us the Renault being taken away on the back of a truck, thus allowing us to get a better look at the extensive damage sustained by the car.
