Land Rover previewed the first model in a series of special edition vehicles just before the Paris Motor Show opens its doors at the beginning of October. Dubbed the Evoque SW1 and part of the 'Inspired by Britain' series, this luxury crossover is slated to go on sale next month, with pricing to be disclosed soon.
As the name implies, the Evoque SW1 is a metal canvas full of Union Jack stickers, but the U.K. theme isn't all there is to this Evoque. Based on the Dynamic trim level, the SW1 can be had in a choice of exterior finishes (Firenze Red, Fuji White, Santorini Black, Corris Grey and Loire Blue) and a Fuji White roof. Yes, the 20-inch rims are painted Fuji White too.

On the inside, the Range Rover Evoque SW1 isn't that different from the standard model. Some of the highlight changes include leather surfaces finished in Taurus Ebony that are further beautified by Cirrus contrasting stitching. Special edition floor mats, sill plates, anodized red trim and a Union Jack on the gear knob are the rest of the mentionable changes.

According to Land Rover, a Monochrome version of the SW1 will follow shortly, based on the Pure body style and available only in Santorini Black, Fuji White and Corris Grey. But the biggest news on this occasion is that Land Rover is now offering an automotive first: integrated laser head-up display, that is. Thanks to laser holographic techniques, the piece of kit boasts with superior colour saturation, brightness and contrast compared to other, conventional HUDs.

"Jaguar Land Rover's HUD system is an innovative driver information tool, which really pushes the boundaries of advanced laser projection technology. It borrows from military technology - which, until now, has been unheard of in the automotive industry," explains Murray Dietsch, director of Land Rover Programmes. The laser HUD is better against issues such as washout - the effect that the glare from sunlight has on LED-based systems.
