Land Rover has officially confirmed today what everybody was expecting for a while now: that a five-door version of the new Range Rover Evoque will join the two-door version on the production line. The new models will make their debut at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show on November 17, 2010.

“The addition of the five-door to the Range Rover Evoque line-up extends the appeal of our brand still further,” said Land Rover’s Managing Director Phil Popham in the press release following the announcement. “While retaining everything that’s great about the Range Rover Evoque coupe, this new five-door bodystyle will offer customers even more choice, greater practicality, versatility and flexibility. The launch of the Range Rover Evoque in 2011 will expand the global appeal of the Range Rover marque," he then added.

No new features have been added to the five-door from the two-door version. The SUV will offer a 4WD and a 2WD drive-train, together with three trim levels: Pure, Prestige and Dynamic. A 2.0-liter Si4 engine with 240 hp thanks to direct fuel injection and twin valve timing, will find its way under both models’ hood. Also available will be a pair of 2.2-liter turbocharged diesel engines, developing either 190 or 150 hp.

"We have combined state-of-the-art powertrains with a lightweight bodyshell and a range of low-carbon technologies to deliver fuel efficiency which is outstanding for a premium SUV," says Murray Dietsch, Director of Land Rover Programmes. The 2.2-liter 150 hp version can deliver CO2 emissions as low as 135 grams per kilometer.

The two models will be available in the fall of 2011, with Land Rover themselves estimating a price of $45,000 (EUR35,000) in the US.

The list of features available for the Range Rover Evoque includes:
  • Park Assist for automated parallel parking
  • Blind Spot Monitoring system
  • Surround Camera System with five digital cameras, including a reversing system
  • Full dual-zone automatic climate control, featuring a Park Heater timer facility

  • Rear seat entertainment package, with 8-inch video screens, digital wireless headphones and touch screen remote control
