Even though it's produced at Chrysler's manufacturing facility in Saltillo, Mexico, the 2014 Ram ProMaster shows its Italian origins with the latest recall involving the full-size van based on the Fiat Ducato.
Specifically, 21,000 vans are called back for the inspection of various electrical components that support external lighting, airbag deployment and even propulsion. Due to inefficient sealing against moisture, these components are prone to corrode in time. According to Chrysler, the campaign was sparked by a few owners that complained about blown fuses linked to moisture exposure.

In the manufacturer's own words, "moisture that was brought into the vehicle via wet footwear or other means had seeped into an in-cabin compartment that houses its battery and other component." Thankfully, no accidents or injuries have been identified as of yet because most vehicles are currently in transit or dealer inventory.

However, this is not the ProMaster's first recall this year. We remind you that 6,800 units of the Ram-badged van were called back in March over potentially damaged brake hoses. Owners of affected ProMasters are advised to contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403 or their local dealer to find out if their vans qualify for the recall operation.

The repair job consists of applying a better quality moisture-resistant sealant to all components prone to corrosion.
