After being fitted on the European-spec Fiat 500L, Chrysler’s Uconnect 5.0 infotainment software will become available in the lower-trim levels of the Ram 1500 pickup truck as well.
According to Automotive News, the new Uconnect 5.0 system to be fitted in the Ram won’t be based on the familiar QNX technology, but will feature Microsoft-based software instead. Another change from Chrysler is that the Garmin navigation will replaced with a TomTom-provided one on the new system.

As a reminder, the Uconnect 5.0 found in the Fiat 500L features a 5-inch touch screen, support for smartphones, tablets, media players and it allows the installation of several applications and services, such as Fiat’s eco:Drive app. The Fiat 500L will be available in the United States this summer starting $19,100.
