Raikkonen's Lazyness Will Make His Comeback Harder - Prost

Kimi Raikkonen's sabbatical might cost him his entire Formula One career, as returning to competitiveness in the Great Circle might be a too tough challenge for him to handle in 2011. And it's not us talking, but quadruple Formula One champion Alain Prost.

Prost is one of the few people who actually knows what he's talking about when referring to the sabbatical-related topics, as he himself took one back in 1992. Unlike what he thinks will happen to Raikkonen, the French ace made a huge return in 1993, winning his last championship crown with Frank Williams' team.

And it's not like Raikkonen doesn't have the necessary skills or speed to pull it off, only his personal “hobbies” are likely to make it more difficult to maintain a high level of preparation for an F1 comeback, argued Prost.

He will try to go rallying, but he is a bit lazy, likes to party and drink a little. When you take a year off you have to be extremely serious about it, preparing physically and mentally,” Prost told Europe 1 radio yesterday.

In addition, Prost argued that Kimi's coldness in his relationship with the teams' mechanics and engineers might cost him big time when he does decide to return to the series, as he's not exactly a person to be missed inside the F1 paddock.

He sometimes had difficulty working as a team. Some Ferrari people in particular didn't appreciate his remoteness from the engineers. He is a superb driver, but it may be difficult for him to get the people who are half-way down the middle about him to trust him again in 2011,” added the Frenchman.
