Race to Dubai Won by BMW Ambassador Martin Kaymer

Even if golfing appears to have lost some of its appeal since Tiger Woods crashed his car and pretty much his life along with it, the European golfing season continued to draw quite a good amount of attention from passionate viewers and not only.

The Dubai World Championship final held today ended with BMW Golfsport Ambassador Martin Kaymer taking the crown. The Swede thus achieved the most wins of any professional on the European Tour, four, after he previously won the Abu Dhabi Championship, the KLM Open in Hilversum and the Dunhill Links Championship in St Andrews.

In a gesture of solidarity with its ambassador, the German manufacturer applauded the winner and expressed its pride in having such an ambassador. The German manufacturer was also the sponsor of the Dubai World Championship for the first time this year.

"BMW extends its warmest congratulations to Martin Kaymer on this fantastic finale to an outstanding season," Ian Robertson, BMW member of the board for Sales and Marketing said. "His sheer class coupled with his professional and personable manner makes him a great role model not just for golfers. His achievements this year have made us very proud."

BMW tied the knot with Martin Kaymer in 2003, when the golfer took part in the BMW International Open in Munich Eichenried That event was also Kaymer's first professional tournament.

"It feels like a dream,"
the 25-year-old golfer said. "All of the goals that I set for myself for my career, everything happened this year: playing in the Ryder Cup, winning a major and finishing as Europe’s number one."
