Scheduled to arrive in 2014 as a 2015 model, the uber-sedan will apparently be priced quite a bit lower than the almost half-a-million US Dollars Phantom or even the 300,000 US Dollars Mulsanne.
“The Moustache”, as Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche is afectionately known around our office, has said that the car will compete in the same price range as the Rolls Royce Ghost and the Bentley Flying Spur, while delivering interior amenities and technology destined for a class above these models.
Quoted by Automotive News, Zetsche has also said that the starting price of the model will be in the “$200,000 to $250,000” range, where a number of current AMG models are currently priced. “Independent of AMG, we will have a bigger piece of thats segment.”
It's hard to say how the Pullman S-Class will manage to fare, considering that the last time an uber-sedan came out of Stuttgart it only posed a small threat to the British super-luxury duo, but, then again, the return of the Maybach brand wasn't orchestrated by Dieter Zetsche, who looks like a man that can get things done.
For the ones interested, who may or may not be a lot of people, we have a rather revealing spyshots gallery of the future model here.
