While some yacht concepts are so out of this world that you immediately know they are not going to go past the designers' drawing boards, others actually show what future watercraft will look like. Tony Castro's latest creation, Project Perennial, belongs to the latter category. This is a feasible concept that pushes the boundaries of yacht design and sets a new standard of excellence in the industry.
Project Perennial is a 197-foot (60-meter) superyacht characterized by elegance and sophistication inside and out and promises an unmatched yachting experience in utmost comfort. It is currently exclusively available as a new build with Denison Yachting.
The project's name is derived from the Latin word "perennis," which means "timeless," perfectly reflecting the ethos of the design. Though Castro endowed the new yacht with innovative features and luxurious amenities, his aim was to create a seamless fusion of modernity and timeless design that would transcend the transient trends in the yachting industry.
With a massive volume of 1200 GT, the superyacht has an imposing profile. It is defined by an elegant exterior, extensive glazing, and generous outdoor and indoor spaces. The soft, sinuous lines only serve to accentuate its colossal volume, making it a sight to behold on the high seas.
A highlight of this luxurious yacht concept is the Cabana-style lounge on the expansive aft deck, a pioneering feature that broker David Johnson says "has never been done on a yacht of this size." It comprises a raised pavilion configured for dining and lounging that comes accompanied by an expansive slatted pergola that slides out of the tween deck to provide shade to the entire terrace.
This pavilion overlooks an asymmetric pool flanked by sumptuous sofas that offer versatile seating arrangements and a breakfast bar area. The whole assembly is designed to serve as the perfect family-friendly social hub.
The deck below the terrace and pavilion houses the beach club, aft boarding area, and water access with fold-down platforms, while the deck above is dedicated to al-fresco dining. The foredeck is equally impressive and suitable for guest entertainment, with a spa pool, two large U-shaped sofas, and an encircled fire pit. Alternatively, this area can be optioned as a flat deck for helicopter boarding.
Given Project Perennial's massive volume, it's only natural for the yacht to have generous living quarters. Accommodation is offered for between 12 and 16 guests across two VIP cabins with balcony access, a large family stateroom with Pullman berths, and two lower deck cabins. The owner benefits from an entire deck configured with a spacious cabin, his and hers bathrooms, a private veranda, and a dedicated office/lounge area with direct access to the aft deck and sun deck above.
Additional luxury amenities that further enhance this concept's allure include a spa area, a gym, and a cinema. A large tender bay for a nine-meter (29.5-foot) limo tender and a seven-meter (23-foot) rib is also part of the design.
Denison broker David Johnson has expressed his enthusiasm about the project, saying, "It is an absolute pleasure to work with Tony and his talented team on this project. Tony is a legend in the industry, so when his office shared the design with me, I knew I wanted to promote it. Tony's studio has designed a yacht that has maintained stylish lines and at the same time has some very creative areas."
