Earlier this year, we were witness to what Audi can do when they want to slap a boot onto a hatchback model. Usually, when the French automaker try the same maneuver, the results are a design mess, but the A3 Concept Sedan came with all the the right lines, plus a massive 408 hp under the hood.
Now, German magazine Auto Motor und Sport has reported that next year’s edition of the Geneva Motor Show will see the arrival of the actual production version of the A3 sedan, debuting at the same time as the third generation of the popular hatch.
In total the A3 will be offered in four body styles which will take on the new BMW 1-Series and Mercedes’ A- and B-Class.
VW Group’s new MQB modular chassis will underpin two chassis variants, with the three-door hatch and convertible making use of a 2,595 mm-long wheelbase, and the five-door Sportback and four-door sedan having a 2,630 mm-long wheelbase.
