Prius Contest Finalists Announced

Two weeks after Japanese manufacturer Toyota kicked off the 10 Years of Toyota Prius Anniversary Celebration on Facebook, the carmaker announced the 10 finalists who will race for a chance to host the Prius anniversary ceremony in their home town. The list of finalists can be seen here.

Toyota chose the ten after viewing and judging the photos and videos uploaded on the specially created Facebook page. The winner of the competition will be announced on August 31, while the Prius party will be hosted on October 10, 2010.

The Japanese manufacturer also let slip the first details of the monster party. The carmaker will be joined in its efforts to make the tenth anniversary of Prius in the US a moment to remember by Outstanding in the Field, SHFT.com and Reverb.org.

Outstanding in the Field will be in charge with outdoor meals from the local markets and will also give the opportunity to local farmers, producers, culinary artisans and chefs to present their best and create a culinary orgy to remember.

SHFT.com will be in charge of the artistic side of the event, setting up a new media platform offering original video series and curated shopping. The platform has been developed by actor Adrian Grenier, film producer Peter Glatzer and sustainability design expert Lauren Gropper.

All this will be created, as said, to celebrate the Prius. The hybrid has been on sale in Japan since 1997, being the world's first mass produced hybrid and becoming in a very short time the best selling Toyota in its home country. In July 2010, the Prius became the best selling vehicle of any make in Japan for the 14th consecutive month.
