Porsche Teasing the Production 918 Spyder

When Porsche introduced the 918 Spyder concept at this year’s Geneva Auto Show, the world was shook, with the surprise acting as a strong drug that instantly created addiction. Then, back in July, Porsche offered us another dose, confirming that the vehicle would be put into production.

The company informed us that the vehicle will come to the world in limited numbers and it will be developed at its Weissach research & development center in Germany.

Now, Porsche is playing with our minds again, as the company has released a picture that shows a 1:3 scale clay model of the 918 Spyder. If you take a close look, you’ll notice that the vehicle comes with certain differences to the concept shown as the Geneva event, which could mean that we are dealing with a teaser of the production incarnation of the car.

To be more specific, the front fascia comes with some modifications, while the area around the doors is also modifies. Another change targets the exhaust, which now uses a single tip, instead of the dual layout featured on the concept.

Porsche also announced today that it is planning to invest EUR150 million in the Weissach development center to create a ultra-modern design center a state-of-the-art wind tunnel, as well as a electronics integration center.

We’ll remind you that Porsche announced last week that it is looking to create 100 jobs at the aforementioned site, mentioning that one of the future tasks of the new employees will be to develop the production version of the 918 Spyder. The company is looking for automotive engineers with experience in the fields of electromobility, lightweight construction, energy management and engine & chassis design.
