For those who thought that the Porsche 918 Spyder is lighting-quick at 2.7s to 60 mph, Porsche has a special announcement to make ahead of the delivery debut - the hybrid hypercar is actually even faster than that.
Porsche has just released a set of updated performance numbers for the 918 Spyder. Since we mentioned the 0 to 60 mph sprint above, we’ll start with this - the 918 Spyder is now 0.2s quicker to 60 mph, completing the run in 2.5 seconds.
Fitted with the Weissach package, the car can play the 0 to 124 mph (200 km/h) game in 7.2 seconds, 0.5 seconds faster than originally announced.
What’s more, you can rely on electric power alone to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 6.2 seconds, 0.7s better than before. Gift the car with the Weissach pack and you’ll see the time dropping to 6.2 seconds.
Porsche cites the “final tuning measures” as the reason for the updated figures. However, the carmaker hasn’t changed its mind on the 918 Spyder’s Nurburgring time. Porsche has given us a 6:57 ‘Ring time for the 918 Spyder.
However, we have reasons to believe that the car could be even quicker than this mind-blowing figure. Porsche could have saved the last few drops of performance for when the McLaren P1, and maybe the Ferrari LaFerrari, have their times published.
