Porsche has officially confirmed it will debut an all new super sports car at the Detroit Auto Show in January and a report made by Bilde.de German magazine suggests the new car is going to be something very impressive.
With just a few weeks away from the debut of the 2011 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), automakers from across the world have started announcing what eye-candy they are bringing to the Detroit show’s floors. There have been a lot of rumors and speculations about what the Stuttgart sportscar will bring to the show, some suggesting a production-ready version of the 918 Spyder or the eagerly-awaited Cayman CS.
“We’ll have something spectacular to show there. You’ll have to wait and be surprised,” said Hans-Gerd Bode, a spokesman for the Porsche, in early December. The surprise might have been spoiled but we are still eager to see (and drive) any supercar made by Porsche.
While the carmaker has been typically tight-lipped on details, the vehicle is believed to be a twin-turbo V8-powered supercar, producing 600hp. It will be a mid-engined machine and utilize an AWD system to deliver all that power to the ground with maximum grip. Following the recent trend for lightness, the body will see a considerable amount of carbon fiber. If the old Carrera GT supercar is anything to go by, this should be a machine for the driving purists.
autoevolution will be attending the 2011 NAIAS, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
