Porsche Design is set to work its magic on a BlackBerry phone, with the new goodie scheduled to be launched on October 27. The Stuff team has received an invitation to the launch event for what various media reports indicate as being the BlackBerry 9980, which will use the Knight designation.
It seems that the BlackBerry 9980 uses the Bold 9900 as a base and ads luxury features, with the phone set to be launched in Dubai. The Phone will bear the Porsche Design logo and will be offered as a premium device, which means that its pricing will be pretty high.
As for the tech specs, you’ll get a single core 1.2 Ghz processor, 768 MB of RAM, an internal memory with a capacity of 8 GB, as well as a microSD card slot that can expand the memory by up to 32 GB.
Since we mentioned the phone, we may as well introduce the lifestyle branch of Porsche sportscars. Porsche Design Studio has more in common with the automaker than the name. You see, the grandson of Porsche’s founder and the person who designed the 911 model established the company back in 1972.
After previously opening its gates in Stuttgart, Germany, in was relocated to Zell am See, in 1974. Since 2005, all products have been developed and marketed under the brand name Porsche Design, which includes the premium BlackBerry in question. You may have heard of the smartphones, but did you know they also have created special high-end pens and mechanical pencils made from stainless steel?
But none of these was the company’s best, to be honest. As a matter of fact, it was all the way back in 1978, when Porsche Design created the spectacles P’8478, one of the most worn sunglasses in the world. If we were to chose one accessory, we'd probably go for the pencil, the same writing ustensil we'd use to sign the check for our new Porsche 911.
