When it opened its doors today, the Goodwood Festival of Speed came with a promise to be the place-to-be for the two days of the event. We already gave you the festival line-up for most of the manufacturers to attend, yet it seems something was still missing: Porsche.

Combined with the 40th anniversary of the Porsche 917, the German sports car manufacturer has prepared an exquisite line-up, comprised of all the brands iconic vehicles, including the soon to be Panamera.

Of course, together with the cars, Porsche will give visitors a chance to meet the people who meant something for the brand. Thus, the event will be highlighted by Richard Attwood (former F1 driver and 1970 Le Mans winner for Porsche) driving a 917, Brian Redman, driving a 917/30 CanAm racer, David Piper, the first to buy a 917 from the factory in 1969 and Jackie Oliver, (Le Mans winner in 1969) in a Gulf-liveried 917.

Porsche will make two debuts at Goodwood on Sunday's Times Supercar Run: the Porsche 911 GT3 and the Panamera Gran Turismo. Below is a list of other Porsche goodies for the festival:

  • 1970 Porsche 917K
  • 1971 Porsche 917-20LH Long Tail
  • 1971 Porsche 917-20 "Pink Pig"
  • 1973 Porsche 917-30 Spyder
  • 1977 Porsche 936-77 Spyder
  • 1981 Porsche 911 GT1
  • 1998 Porsche 911 GT3

Beware how you touch them tough, as many of them are being borrowed for the event from the new Porsche Museum in Stuttgart.

"With an unbeaten record of 16 victories in the Le Mans 24 Hours race the reputation of Porsche has been founded on success in the high speed, high pressure motor sport environment. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Porsche 917, the first Porsche to win Le Mans," Porsche said in a release.
