Hamilton to Drive Ayrton Senna's 1988 MP4-4 at Goodwood Festival of Speed

While some of the Formula One drivers & teams are still enjoying their vacation off racing, no less than 6 outfits are to attend UK’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, due to get under way later today. The 3-day event is held annually as a celebration of motor racing and will once again benefit from the presence of reigning F1 champion Lewis Hamilton.

Considering that his current F1 car isn't bringing him any satisfaction this year, Hamilton will finally get into a race winning car this weekend, only it will be Ayrton Senna's 1988 MP4-4 turbo. The 24-year old Brit will do some demonstration laps with the title-winning car on the Goodwood circuit, while also expected to jump on the wheel of McLaren's most recent race-winner MP4-23.

Whenever I go to the McLaren Technology Centre, there are two cars that I love the most - the first is the McLaren F1 that I've set my heart on winning and the second is Ayrton's MP4-4,” said Hamilton, according the Formula One official site.

Even today, it still looks like the car to be racing! About a month ago, I went down and sat in the car while the guys were preparing it for Goodwood. It is going to be a pretty cool moment!” added the McLaren champion.

Five other teams will be present at the event, including Brawn, Ferrari, Williams, Toyota and Red Bull, while three other active F1 drivers are to do demonstrations laps in their 2008-or-older challengers at Goodwood: Jenson Button, Mark Webber and Timo Glock.

In addition, former F1 figures and great motor racing names will attend the event, including Sir Stirling Moss, Sir Jackie Stewart, David Coulthard, Dan Gurney, Damon Hill, Jacky Ickx, John Surtees and Takuma Sato.

Williams F1 will have some own celebration to do this weekend, as the Festival of Speed will be a good opportunity for UK racing fans to honor Frank Williams – who is celebrating his 40th year in Formula One. The Grove based team will bring its 1970 De Tomaso-Cosworth Tipo 505, Keke Rosberg's 1982 FW08 and the 1996 Williams-Renault FW18 to the Goodwood event.
