Porsche 997 GT3 With Supersprint Sports Exhaust

The Porsche flat-six engine has been incrementally improved and tweaked over the years, and now, in its latest incarnation and with a reduced displacement of 3.4 liters, it can get the latest 991 Carrera from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 4.6 seconds (with the PDK automatic gearbox), while returning a claimed combined fuel economy figure of 8.1 l/100 km (29 mpg).
It’s the kind of engine that has been worked on for so long that it’s as near to perfection as any petrol engine could ever get. In the previous generation 911, the 997, and particularly the GT3, the 3.6-liter version was tuned to produce 415 hp and allow the car to complete the benchmark sprint in 4.3 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 311 km/h (193 mph).

Add in a Supersprint straight-through exhaust system along with a sports catalytic converter, and the engine’s full sound potential is revealed. We really like the smooth and free revving nature of the Porsche flat-six and we think it’s one of the best engine available on any car today, and since Porsche will continue its use, it will only get better in the future.
