Only in California: a female driver was involved in a high-speed police chase after she was spotted trespassing in a field to do yoga poses. She fled when she was approached by police, and ended up crashing her car but still found time to do some more yoga.
When yoga you must, yoga you will. The Los Angeles Times reports that the strange incident started when the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a parked silver Nissan XTerra whose driver, a woman, was trespassing on a property. By the time deputies arrived at the scene, the woman had gone.

About 3 hours later, another call came in: the woman had returned to the scene and was face-down in the field. The caller assumed that she was doing yoga, but since she was still trespassing, they called the police. Deputies were quicker to respond this time, and found the yoga aficionado in her car, at the wheel.

Jennifer Risch, 39, refused to speak with the officers and, when they approached her, she started the engine of her XTerra and was off. A car chase ensued, with the LA Times noting that Risch continued driving with the police tail for 2 miles. She probably wouldn’t have stopped had she not crashed into a utility pole, which toppled.

Then, she got out of her car and did more yoga poses. Police did not attempt approaching her again and waited for paramedics and backup to take her into custody. She was taken to a hospital and was then charged with reckless evading. Details about her current conditions are unknown.

“Risch was driving with disregard for safety of pedestrians walking near the roadway, traveling over the solid double yellow lines and into the oncoming northbound traffic lane,” the police report notes.

But at least she made sure her flexibility was on fleek.
