Many classic movies promised that we would get flying cars in the year 2,000, but engineers haven’t managed to keep up with those kind of dreams. Instead, we are in 2011 and still trying to find a decent way of making cars understand what we say.
The latest attempt of doing this comes from Pioneer, which is presenting its new Zypr voice-to-cloud platform. This relies on a tethered smartphone or an embedded modem to translate our language into its own and respond.
For example, if you’re feeling in the mood fore some junk food, just express this and Zpyr will list the nearest locations. It also integrates Facebook and Google.
And the story doesn’t end here. Just like Apple did with the Siri, Pioneer saw the potential of a proper voice recognition system and plans for the tech to be integrated into other pieces of electronics.
