Peugeot its preparing quite a big revolution for its sedan offer, as the French automotive producer will replace both the 407 and 607 models with the 508.

The concept incarnation of the 508, which is dubbed 5byPeugeot, was showcased earlier this year at the Geneva Auto Show, with the final version of the car scheduled to make its world debut in September at the Paris Auto Show.

However, we don’t have to wait until the summer is over to get a glimpse at the french “boot bearer”, as the first official photos of the model have leaked.

The images show both the 508 GT sedan (the sporty version of the saloon) and the 508 SW (station wagon). As expected, the car’s details have been tamed (compared to the 5byPeugeot concept).

At the front of the 508, we can notice that the headlights and fog lights now use a more conventional approach. The side mirrors, as well as the door handles, have also turned into production-shaped details. Unfortunately the front grille is now smaller, with its design coming closer to the traditional shape used by contemporary vehicles. However, the sedan model uses a special alloy rim design, which manages to stand out from other types of wheels proposed by various automotive producers.

As for the 508 SW, Peugeot has decided to ditch the innovative shape of the rear end used for the 407 SW and go for a classic design. However, we have to mention that the car’s overall shape manages to inspire dynamism.

Various media reports indicate that the 508 will offer an engine range that will include, among others, two diesel units (a 160 hp 2.0 liter HDI and a 237 hp 3.0 liter V6), a turbocharged 1.6 liter petrol engine offering 156 hp and a hybrid powertrain comprising of the aforementioned 2.0l HDI and a 37 hp electric motor.
