Every year, camper and RV manufacturers create new units with which to dominate the industry. This is the case with the Pando 3.0 from Off Grid Trailers, a travel trailer aimed at affordable and capable off-grid adventures. Whip out your checkbooks for this one, folks!
Folks, the name Pando may seem familiar, but what isn't is the 3.0. In the past, we've covered Off Grid Trailers (OGT), and the work they spit out, and the Pando and Pando 2.0 were the previous versions upon which I've shed light. Well, this time around, it's the 3.0's turn. I suggest you balance those checkbooks because you may find yourself calling OGT after this one.

Now, if you have some idea of the sort of machines that OGT builds, then you know what to expect from the 3.0. For example, OGT prides itself on building capable and affordable machines that can go a bit further than others in the same price range. Overall, the 3.0 is going for a rather high $36,750 (€34,900 at current exchange rates), but there are countless reasons why this beast should be considered for your next camper purchase.

For starters, each 3.0 is built upon a 4-inch C-channel frame and completed with aluminum sheets to create the shell. Best of all, R10 insulation is also part of the magic, so if you've got a solid heater, you might be able to push it into four-season use.

Beyond the frame and shell, it's important to note that OGT places 21 inches (53 cm) of ground clearance at our disposal, granted by a Timbren 3500 HD axle-less setup. However, if you need a bit more, you can opt for OGT's proprietary suspension system and rock 25 inches (63 cm) of ground clearance and 8 inches (20 cm) of suspension travel, provided by a trailing arm action with 2.25-inch Dirt Logic shocks from Fabtech Motorsports.

Now, it may not look like it, but the Pando 3.0 is considered a teardrop camper by OGT, and that means a certain lifestyle. However, there's one significant change to the Pando 3.0 "teardrop" that others we're used to simply don't have.

While there's a galley at the rear, cargo bays along the sides of the 3.0 are equipped with slide-outs for things like a fridge/freezer. This aspect of its design is granted by nothing more than that nose box we see. Note that this is a feature seen across a wide range of OGT machines.

Why is this a big deal? Well, think about it. If we move our fridge/freezers from a galley block to the front of a unit, what are we left with? A huge empty space that can now be designated for other uses. Maybe you need a microwave, more water tanks, or space for pots and pans; the Pando 3.0 does NOT lack storage options. Just note that OGT places a 57 l fridge freezer in the rear galley, so you'll need to let them know if you want them to move it to the front.

One aspect of this space that you need to be aware of is that it will also double as a source for bathing while on your outdoor adventures. Since there is a 14-gallon (53 l) water tank here, an optional 19-gallon (72 l) secondary tank, and an on-demand hot water setup, and with a privacy tent, you'll be routing water from this area of the Pando 3.0.

Now, once you've had your daily fun, filled your stomach with delicious morsels, and even taken a shower, what's there to do? Well, it all depends on how you like to live your life. Most people will probably bring along an outdoor dining set, arrange a campfire, and tell stories until the stars shine overhead. Others will simply be too tired from their activities to do anything of the above.

No matter which of these two archetypes you may be, the interior of the Pando 3.0 is sure to taper to your needs and lifestyle. I say this because you'll find aluminum storage cupboards inside for clothes, books, and whatever else you need, an electric setup monitor, heating and cooling, and even an optional entertainment center.

One aspect we need to know about the Pando 3.0 is its mattress. Standard, two guests will be able to lay their heads at night, but you can opt for a modular one that can take the shape of a seating bench when it's not used for catching Zs; talk it over with OGT.

As for a few extras you need to be aware of in terms of use and capability, the roof rack system is a notable feature and can support 1,000 lbs (454 kg) of cargo, no matter what it is - as long as it's secured properly - the Max Coupler articulating hitch, and some of the detectors OGT integrates into each unit.

From here, I urge you to take a couple of minutes out of your day to place yourself in the middle of this action. Picture yourself loading up the Pando 3.0 with food, clothes, water, and even a rooftop tent, hitch it up to your truck, grab the family, and off you go. Next stop? Why are you asking me? You decide. Are you ready for next year's glamping season?
