Because Toyota finally decided to give us the official MSRPs for the 2024 Land Cruiser ahead of starting deliveries this spring, we took a swing at its online configurator tool to create our dream off-road ride.
When the returning 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser debuted in America (this new iteration is significantly different from the old 2021 Land Cruiser), the Japanese automaker revealed that on this occasion, it decided to bring the lighter 250 series instead of the full-size J300 Land Cruiser from overseas.

This means it's twinned with the 2024 Lexus GX 550 this time around on the TNGA-F body-on-frame platform that debuted with the bigger sibling some time ago and now underpins the 2024 Land Cruiser, GX, Tundra, Sequoia, or Tacoma. That translates to the promised mid-$50k pricing situation for the base model – which was revealed to be precisely $55,950 without the $1,495 destination fee.

This is how it became $30k cheaper than the last Land Cruiser Toyota sold in America, and hopefully, that will make it a lot more enticing for prospective customers. As per the company, just three grades will be available in the US, with the base Land Cruiser 1958 and the flagship $76,445 First Edition (limited to 5k examples) sharing one major characteristic – the old-school-inspired round LED headlights.

Meanwhile, the 'Land Cruiser' trim features rectangular headlights and offers the most extensive selection of colors – seven instead of three or four – from $61,950. Given that Toyota not only announced the starting prices for the 2024 model year but also updated its online configurator tool to include the off-roader among the goodies, we decided to do a traditional dream configurator as soon as possible.

Because the 1958 is offered solely in Black, Meteor Shower (grey), and Ice Cap (white), while the First Edition is probably going to disappear fast off the dealer lots, we chose the mid-tier Land Cruiser trim rocking the dual-tone Trail Dust and Grayscape roof combination for $350, went with the most expensive Black Leather interior of the four options which added the Premium Package for $4,600, and also changed the wheels to the 20-inch aluminum option for another $1,240.

Because the Premium pack adds a lot of goodies – a 14-speaker JBL audio system, digital key, HUD, and more – we focused on accessories next. Thus, we gave it the $80 ball mount for upcoming trailering, illuminated doorsteps and Predator drop steps for $360 and $700, a $1,400 roof rack for camping adventures, and black chrome alloy wheel locks for another $80. That way, it was easy to rack another $10k to the MSRP, and the grand total was $72,155 without destination and other fees. Hopefully, there won't be too many dealers aiming to profit heavily from the eagerly-anticipated 2024 Land Cruiser, or we could see builds hitting the same prices as the old 2021 Land Cruiser soon enough.
