The coupe remained the superstar of the Corvette lineup in 1972, accounting for nearly 76 percent of the entire production. Chevrolet built 20,496 coupes and 6,508 convertibles, with the total output of 27,000 units serving as confirmation that the Corvette still had a solid customer base in the United States.
The 1972 model year featured minor and subtle changes compared to the previous version, so the strong sales took many by surprise.

An original Corvette that made its way to eBay is one of the easiest ways to understand what the 1972 model year was about, especially because it comes in great shape thanks to proper maintenance throughout all these years.

The Corvette looks great, still wearing the original paint. Seller bluebbvette explains that you must get closer to see all the problems, so a collector might want a full respray to bring the car back to a tip-top shape. However, the rust won't be a concern on this Vette, though you should inspect the undersides thoroughly.

The owner says the car was originally sold by the Chevrolet dealer that received it to another dealership "just down the street." Miracle Mile Motors purchased it on February 18, 1972, before selling it three weeks later to Barry and Annette Bayer from South Dakota.

The seller says they purchased the Corvette from Annette Bayer earlier this year, putting back the original parts replaced by the couple and fixing the few problems they found. The Corvette sold with an aftermarket radio, but the original unit was in a box. The air conditioning system didn't work but now blows cold. Everything is nearly in perfect shape, so the Corvette is ready to become a daily driver unless it makes its way to a collector's garage where it'd require a series of extra fixes.

The mileage certainly sets this Corvette apart from the rest of the crowd. The odometer indicates just 38,000 miles (61,150 km), and the seller says they are original. The vehicle has likely been sitting for a long time, which explains the low mileage and the great overall shape

The engine runs and drives without any problems, and the gauges on the dashboard work like they should. The weather is not in perfect shape but is still good, and the soft top has already been replaced by the previous owner at some point during the '90s.

Everything on this Corvette makes it an excellent survivor whose place shouldn't be under the clear sky, so fingers crossed for someone to take it home and take proper care of it. The owner wants to let it go for $32,500, but they also enabled the Make Offer button. You can see it in person in West Des Moines, Iowa.
