Ford has recently given us a story on how the 2013 Focus ST is becoming really popular among American’s young ones, but it seems that some US Focus fans are more hardcore than others. Today we’ve got a pretty extreme example for you, with one man slapping a V8 and rear-wheel drive into his first-gen Focus.
Open the hood of this humble-looking Focus and you’ll find a carbureted 302 cu. in. Ford V8. The unit uses custom bits, such as an E303 Ford Racing camshaft, to deliver 340 HP. This is a Ford Racing crate engine that costs $4,000.
However, the rest of the mechanical bits required to convert the Focus to RWD will drill a larger hole in your wallet. In fact, this Focus is up for sale and its owner claims he’s put $21,000 worth of goodies into the thing,
This car is a pretty good sleeper, since there’s not much to its appearance that reveals its muscle. OK, once you’ve overtaken another car, its drivers will be able to see the exhaust tips and perhaps the custom bits on the rear suspension, but it will be a tad too late...
