Sebastien Ogier and Volkswagen Motorsport seem unstoppable this WRC season, the French-German man-machine couple winning its third consecutive event in Portugal last weekend to extend the lead in the Drivers’ and Manufacturers’ Championship.
Troubled by clutch problems in the opening test session, Ogier managed to get back on track quite quickly and win Rally Portugal with 58.2 seconds over second-placed finnish driver Mikko Hirvonen (Citroen Total Abu Dhabi WRT). Third place was taken by Jari-Matti Latvala, Volkswagen Motorsport’s second driver.

Following Sunday’s success, Sebastien Ogier extended his lead in the Drivers’ Championship standing at 54 points. In the Manufacturers’ Championship, Volkswagen Motorsport tops the ranking with 121 points, while Citroen Total Abu Dhabi WRT sits in second position with 107 points.

The next World Rally Championship event is scheduled in Argentina, from May 3 through May 5.
